I believe that my experience in small animal practice has equipped me to better understand and serve the  dental and oral needs of my veterinary dental patients. I have always had pet dogs and cats and even raised and cared for farm animals as a  high school student. While working with and raising farm animals for my Future Farmers of America projects, I became interested in  veterinary medicine and made a decision to become a veterinarian.

Volunteer Work:

Dr. Boyd not only consults with the zoo veterinarians but also volunteers at the Houston Zoo on an as needed basis to provide advanced dental care to their animals.

Continuing Education and In-Clinic Seminars

Dr. Boyd and his staff offer hands on seminars for referring veterinarians and their staff in their own clinics. He also lectures and teaches laboratory courses at Tomball College for students in the veterinary technology program in order to prepare them for their future jobs in veterinary clinics and conducts seminars for various local and state veterinary meetings. Dr. Boyd lectures and teaches lab courses in Endodontics at the annual Veterinary Dental Forum each year.

After graduation from veterinary school at Texas A & M University, I entered the United States Air Force where I was a Base Veterinarian in Aviano, Italy. Upon completion of  my tour of duty, I received an honorable discharge and came to Houston to pursue my passion of treating and caring for small animal  patients.

I met Dr. D. N. Streater through an A & M classmate and joined him in small animal practice. We opened and operated several small animal veterinary clinics during our partnership of 30+ years.

In 1999 I was very fortunate to be able  to change the direction of my veterinary practice from general small animal medicine and surgery to a small practice devoted to veterinary dentistry and oral surgery. After making this change, I applied for and was accepted into the specialty training program of the American Veterinary Dental College.
